Where I Work

My dad gave me a keyboard! It’s so much nicer to work at the computer now. i can keep up proper posture and be at proper distance from the computer that doesn’t give me a headache. I’m going to buy some groovy yellow tinted glasses too to wear when I’m doing non-digital painting stuff. I figure I’ll look pretty dorky, but  you know what looks super dorky? Eye strain!

I love not slouching over my laptop now, or holding my hands at a weird angle. Why did I think of using an external keyboard before? SO SMART!

I’m also employing the 20-20-20 rule now. Every 20 minutes I look away from the computer and look at something 20 feet away for about 20 seconds. I also stand up and stretch, reaching up very high and then touching my toes. , or doing some squats, Just something to keep me from sitting too long.

Do you want to see where I work? SURE YOU DO! 🙂

Here is where I do my digital work. I have a mall corkboard where I pin stickers, cards, and ideas. The painting of fish and coral is by my mother. I really like her work

Here is where I do my drawing! It's simple but effective. you will notice the carpet is off-white, so painting is done in the garage for easy mopping :)

Here are a few buddies that sit on top of a cabinet with books. I like keeping my books in cabinets, because then I don't have to dust them as often. :)

This is where my nephew sleeps when he visits. There are more buddies, gifts to my mother from my nephews and it's just pretty darn cheery.

And that’s my space! My folks are really generous/awesome/supportive by letting me take over most of the this room for my work. We have a really good relationship, so living with them while I pursue illustration full-time has been a blessing. But I know they will be as happy for me as I am when I move out one day and am independent once more. All in all, they’re pretty awesome, right? Right 🙂

Have a wonderful week everyone!

  1. Your computer desk looks just like my last computer desk, ha ha. Those tables are the best.

Also having supportive family makes such a difference to artists. We’re very lucky!

    1. It is very practical! Easy to clean, light enough to move, and big enough to hold all the stuff 😀 It was meant to be temporary but it meets all my needs, so instead of fancy furniture, I bought fancy tools 😀
