Work in Progress Wednesday: Fat Cat Stretches

Between projects, I’ve been sketching a lot. I like sketching because it’s a fluid process that reminds me of what my style is, which can oddly enough become fuzzy after taking on a new medium. Sketching is fun and calming.

Here is a fat cat stretching. I did some very rough sketches, and then just wanted to try painting him to see if I liked him. I do, but I think he neeeeds something. Maybe he just needs placed in a more posh environment? Maybe something in his brow got lost in translation? Hrmmm….

  1. These are adorable, Autumn. The original sketch seems to have more movement. I, too, think it’s because of the environment you placed the cat in. But it is adorable nonetheless. All of these sketches really capture the personality of cats.

      1. Erin talks like someone that knows cats! 🙂 I was going to suggest the same: the luxurious content look with half-closed eyes! A longer stretch will look great too!
